Preparing for trip to Vietnam
In July I spent a lot of my two week holiday researching what to do in Vietnam. Jim's twin brother has lived in Hanoi since 2000, so a visit was well overdue.
I checked with Jim about the flights, and decided to go to Singapore for a few days, then Ho Chi Mnh City, on to Hoi An, and then to Hanoi, with four days in Hong Kong.
Found out a week before we left that Qantas didn't fly, nor codeshare with Vietnam, so had accomodation etc all done, but no way of getting there :-) During that week, an embargo was placed on staff travelling to Singapore as well, so had to cancel that, and luckily, Ms Thip of Royal Exclusive Travel (see http://www.asia-discovery.com/) will refund the money less 10%, about $300 Australian dollars. This Internet booking service was excellent.
Organised typhoid shots, Hep A for all, and the medical kit, traveller's cheques and cash from the Post Office (no need for traveller's cheques - just take your ATM card!! and withdraw cash everywhere).

Welcome
A story of a trip to Vietnam, with a lot of photos and some candid observations. I had a great time there, and would love to go back.
